4-hour workweek — Not weekend!

In Tim Ferris’ book, the 4-hour workweek helped change my work life, and maybe yours too, but it does not have to control every aspect of your lifestyle. Structured weeks is one of the first things we teach in the program The Certified Accountant, and for good reason….what gets scheduled gets done. It’s that simple.

Do I “optimize” my personal time with hourly blocks on my e-cal? Heck no….I love having an entire weekend with zero plans nor schedule to just be with my kids and family, BUT I worked my bum off to get to where I don’t work any overtime, nights, or weekends in my businesses and can literally just do nothing when I want to.

I am also a huge research geek, and some days I just want to spend hours figuring out the perfect green meal replacement drink, shop for an athleisure blazer or create new tax strategies in TaxPlanIQ, and it makes me happy. But that’s because I’ve earned that time and ability to spend it. I’ve gained back all the wasted time and inefficiencies on the work I did NOT like doing, so I could use that time for whatever I want! And that’s what we teach students to do.

That’s why I adore tax planning so much. It’s the easiest way to value price clients and produce raving fans while getting you out of the rat race. That's what I call bridging passion with purpose (which I went so many years looking for and am so blessed to help others with now). So yes…optimize your efficiencies for everything that’s just an “eh” on your to-do list, and earn back that time to waste on the things you “yay” love instead. And if you want help, lemme know.

Do you have a book that changed your life? I wanna know that too!
