Knowing tax law and running a high dollar paid tax planning engagement are two different skills most firms have not mastered. This is because it's either too technical, you don't know which clients to approach, nor which strategies fit their situation...or even what the plan should look like. (Not to mention what or how to bill, and how to hold the price when the client pushes back.) CCTA covers all of these topics.

Why Accountants and Advisors Get Certified

Tax knowledge without a pricing method or good sales conversation will result in a firm that plans for free. Sound familiar? CCTA fixes that. You leave the week-long program able to price an engagement with the ROI Method of Value Pricing and defend the fee whenever a client questions you.

By the end you have four things:

A pitch you can feel
confident about

The certificate is the byproduct. A plan you can feel good about presenting and winning for $5,000, $10,000, or $20,000 or more the next week is the point!

Certified Directory & Badge Placement

Graduates have the ability to be listed in the TaxPlanIQ's public directory of certified advisors and a Certified Concierge TaxPlanIQ Advisor badge for their website and marketing, which puts the firm in front of prospects. Every graduate can advertise themselves as a certified tax advisor, and the badge signals a tax strategist certification that prospects can check before they hire you.

What the CCTA Designation Means

CCTA stands for Certified Concierge TaxPlanIQ Advisor. It communicates that the holder has completed extremely structured training in:

the-ccta-designation

It’s a credential. Don’t confuse it with any kind of state license. Please remember it never replaces a CPA license, an EA designation, or a securities registration. Instead, it sits alongside your other credentials and is specifically for tax planning. This positions you in the mind of a client as a certified tax and advisory professional rather than only a preparer.

Who It's For

There’s no prior planning experience required. However, the program is only open to TaxPlanIQ subscribers right now. The program is especially designed for…

accountants

Accountants

Accountants adding advisory work to a compliance practice, who know the tax code, may not know which strategies apply to which clients, and have trouble collecting a value-based high dollar fee for tax planning engagements.

financial-advisors

Financial Advisors

Financial advisors who want to spot tax opportunities for their investment clients and coordinate execution with a client's accountant.

firm-staff

Firm Staff

Firm staff who can be trained to build plans a partner later reviews and presents.

Objection Handling and Closing

Every tax plan presentation typically might have only a handful of predictable objections, if a client objects at all. Many clients say yes right away. But overcoming common objections is important for closing engagements.

Two Live Role Plays

We include full demonstrations of a pitch and a close, with expert commentary so you can see how it could go with you. This is, for many, the most valuable part of the course.

You Build It On
Your Own Clients

Most programs hand you case studies but this tax advisory training helps you create tax plans with your own clients, not sample files. You start the week by screening your clients and shortlisting the returns with real opportunity. Don't worry, we walk you through it all.

By midweek you are building an actual plan in your TaxPlanIQ account. Then you price that engagement using the real numbers from the real return. The last two days are the conversation: the pitch, the objections, and how to actually sell so you can collect your 5,10, or 20k check!

Developed by Dr. Jackie Meyer, CPA, CCTA

Jackie built this program from the material she used in her own firm. She spent years working 60 to 80 hour weeks before rebuilding her firm around tax planning. So, instead of focusing just on compliance, she began to convert clients to advisory engagements one at a time.

So, Jackie ended up with fewer clients and higher fees.

In 2022, she sold her firm. She created the ROI Method of Value Pricing, which the AICPA distributes to its membership, and founded TaxPlanIQ. She holds a doctorate in leadership from Regent University and a master's in taxation from SMU, and she wrote the book The Balanced Millionaire: Advisor Edition.

FAQs

Common Tax Planning Certification Questions

What does CCTA stand for?

It stands for Certified Concierge TaxPlanIQ Advisor. The name sounds like the program is only for accountants, we admit. However, it also fits financial advisors and firm staff who want to build and sell tax plans.

What is CCTA certification?

A five-day live program covering the full tax planning engagement. This means selecting clients, building the plan, applying strategies for high-income W-2 earners, real estate investors, and business owners, and pricing it so it's win-win for both the client and the accountant.

Who is eligible?

TaxPlanIQ subscribers. No prior planning experience is required. If you have TaxPlanIQ, you're eligible. If not, you're not.

Is CCTA certification for CPAs?

Accountants are the largest group in the program and we have a mixed bag of CPAs and non-CPAs. Also, financial advisors join us too. There have been plenty of instances where a firm's staff comes in to take the week long training as well. So, think of it as a tax planning course for CPAs and non-CPAs alike.

How long does the CCTA program take?

Five days, so simply plan a Monday to Friday where you can set aside a couple hours each day to do the training and homework. You can still run your practice and work a normal week, this just adds a little to your days.

What does it cost?

$3,500, only for TaxPlanIQ subscribers.

Does certification include software access?

You must purchase a TaxPlanIQ subscription to be eligible for CCTA. The training is built around the platform, and the plans you build during the program are real plans that live inside your account. The certification is always attached to a TaxPlanIQ user.

How is CCTA different from other tax certifications?

CCTA covers which clients to approach, what to charge for a price, how to show it to clients, and how to handle a client's objections and pushback. It is tied to TaxPlanIQ, so the process you learn is the process you run afterwards for each client. People often compare CCTA to a certified tax coach program; the difference is that CCTA is always tied to the software you actually use to build tax plans.

Does it carry CPE credit?

No. CCTA is a practice-building program but not an accredited continuing education course. Certain TaxPlanIQ plans include CPE credits separately, however.
